We honour the life of a great australian - Ken Dyers - 1922 - 2007

25 July 2007

This is a tragic day for Australia and for the human spirit.
Ken Dyers took his own life today.
He was 85, an ex-combat soldier who fought at El Alamein and Lae and Finschhafen.
Ken had been suffering serious ill-health.
There has been a relentless attack on Ken and Kenja for over 20 years.
This attack was launched by spurious, so-called anti-cult groups, some politicians and individuals with criminal intentions, who have fabricated false allegations of child sexual abuse against him.
To this day there has been no conviction against Ken Dyers, and all allegations were rejected by the courts.
The police were continuing to hound and harass Mr Dyers, working with disaffected and hostile people, who wanted to destroy Ken to hide their own misdeeds.
It is clear that Ken decided he could not, in his state of health, continue to fight any longer.
This is a terrible tragedy. The irony is that Ken always had compassion for the perpetrators of this attack and what they were doing to themselves in betraying honest help, friendship and love.
If anybody in the media or elsewhere wishes to genuinely investigate the history of this persecution and horrible end, Kenja would readily welcome such an investigation to reveal the truth of what has happened.
We in Kenja feel a great loss, and we will cherish and honour Kens memory and his work forever.

LATEST UPDATE

We have made representation to the NSW Attorney General and the Minister of Police seeking an inquiry into the conduct of police in respect to police action taken against Ken Dyers.

We Honour the Life of a Great Australian

For the past 20 years both Ken and Kenja have been under attack from spurious anticult groups. They stem from an organisation in America called Cult Awareness Network which was a referral group for "deprogramming", the reprogramming of an individual to adopt another individuals belief system. Deprogrammers initially employed techniques such as kidnapping, assault and sexual assault, often coming into conflict with American authorities. Finally, Cult Awareness Network itself collapsed in America in 1995 after a prosecution by a young man whom they had kidnapped and attempted to deprogram.
Australia provides a fertile ground for deprogramming (often $40,000 a pop). Today it is called exit counselling. The person who initially brought Cult Awareness Network to Australia was an ex-Kenja participant. She had been asked to leave Kenja for unethical behaviour. This precipitated the formation in 1992 of an Australian group called Cult Aware and now also Cult Information and Family Support group.
These groups and associated individuals have ruthlessly attacked Kenja over many years. When that attack did not work, and Kenja survived, stronger, the attackers viciously turned to using the emotion and sensationalism of child sexual assault charges.
These are the easiest charges to bring against an individual, are highly emotive in content and deny rational observation or evaluation of the said charges.

LET'S GET THE FACTS STRAIGHT.
Mr Dyers was charged in 1993 with 11 counts of sexual assault. The allegations were made by four girls from two families. The mothers of the girls were best friends and had both been asked to discontinue the Kenja training, one for striking a child and the other for being unable, for the third time, to explain the disappearance of a large sum of Kenja's money in her possession. These families were canvassed by a Sydney politician and persons from Cult Aware. It was only after the canvassing that the four girls brought charges. Ken was acquitted on 10 of them; the one charge on which he was found guilty – tried separately – was a kiss on the forehead.
Eventually the High Court of Australia ruled that the judge had misdirected the jury, leading to a guilty verdict and the conviction was quashed. The DPP declined to retry him on this weak and flimsy case.
Having survived 16 years of these charges, with his health failing, but committed to seeing justice done, Mr Dyers by 2001 was only infrequently involved with the Kenja training. In 2003, one girl brought false allegations to the NSW Department of Community Services (DOCS). A year later the first girl canvassed her best friend. The best friend denied that any offences had taken place. DOCS did not pursue these allegations. In 2005, Task Force Caroola was set up with one purpose – to "get" Ken. The Task Force revisited these earlier false allegations. And in 2005 the NSW Police brought charges against Ken.
These charges, had they ever gone to trial, would have been laughed out of the court – Ken was in his 80th year at the time these charges were alleged to have occurred. He was under constant supervision, because of his health, and also for his own safety. To suggest that such events, could even have taken place, is untenable.
What is withheld from the general public are the reasons behind these charges. Why one girl and her father were asked to discontinue Kenja training due to unethical behaviour. Why the other girl changed her story after questioning by Task Force Caroola. Incredibly, these charges were not dismissed. Ken survived, was buoyant, and with diminishing health, was simply declared medically unfit for trial.

ALL CHARGES THAT HAVE GONE TO COURT AGAINST MR DYERS HAVE RESULTED IN NO CONVICTIONS WHATSOEVER.
In spite of this, Task Force Caroola continued to actively canvass individuals with personal grievances against Kenja. The actions that both girls and fathers of the girls are attempting to hide in these latest allegations are appalling, and open to any investigator who wishes to get the full story.
It was Ken's final realisation that there are certain members of the police force who are career orientated and are apparently less interested in the truth than in "getting their man". Both girls and associated individuals should be investigated by the police and prosecuted for misuse of police resources.
The proof is overwhelming that the girl making the allegations deliberately lied and manufactured these false allegations. This proof includes tape recordings and statutory declarations by the girl and threats by her to go to the police if her mother did not do as she demanded. It is abundantly evident there would be no case in court and the purpose of this witchhunt was simply to harass Mr Dyers with the threat of incarceration pending trial.
On Wednesday 25 July, Task Force Caroola made a further move. Ken was again shocked and devastated that the police had chosen to ignore all this overwhelming proof. It was this ultimate loss of faith in sanity and rationalism, and with failing ill health and loss of sight that Mr Dyers chose to take his life on Wednesday. This is a tragedy.
We have invited newspapers everywhere to explore the actual facts of this case and give the full story. We have received no response.
A valued Australian has been forced to end his own life, out of sheer hopelessness that truth or justice will prevail, because of an area of corruption within the police force.
We certainly invite that this area at least be explored.
No ordinary person could withstand sixteen years of unrelenting attacks and charges, let alone the continuation of this current threat. It is a credit to Ken that he held hope, love and understanding in spite of all this. It is a tragedy that such a man was forced to confront the reality of an intent, aimed to result in his death in jail before trial.

WE FAREWELL OUR WONDERFUL FRIEND KEN DYERS, BY CELEBRATING HIS EXTRAORDINARY LIFE.
It is a testament to the quality of his character that, to the very end, Ken dedicated his life to focussing on the spiritual essence of mankind and peoples' positive qualities rather than their liabilities.
He was a friend to thousands, a committed father, a wonderful husband and a sparkling human being. Over 60 years of research into the Energy Conversion meditation he pioneered, Ken helped many thousands of Australians improve their own lives, irrespective of the personal cost to him. He never sold out his friends, never compromised his principles, or accepted injustices. Ken called a spade a spade. He was a blessing to Australia.
Ken was 85 and an ex-combat soldier who had fought at El Alamein and the landings at Lae and Finschhafen, New Guinea.
On 25 July 2007, a tragic day for Australia and for the human spirit, Ken took his own life. It is clear that Ken decided he could not, in his state of health, continue to fight any longer. This is a terrible tragedy. The irony is that Ken always had compassion for the perpetrators of this attack and what they were doing to themselves in betraying honest help, friendship and love. We feel a great loss, and we will cherish Ken's memory and his work forever. If you too cherish the value of human dignity and the freedom of the human spirit, join with us in celebrating this great man's life.
