THE HUMAN SPIRIT - YOUR SURVIVAL GUIDE

You need the flash player to see the video

"Somebody said to me "You've survived very well during the War... Through El Alamein and through the landings at Lae and Finschaven... You're a survivor and there weren't many survivors in that – in my unit.

I just help other people survive and then because I do that, I'm valuable to them and they make sure that I survive. My mates made sure I survived. Because I was oriented to making sure they survived.

That the human element was still there and they were having some fun out of life - even in battle. 'Cause when the child in you – the human in you – is not happy, it reduces your desire to live, or be very interested in your life. And how many people think about that? They think "Oh the human is, I'm not going to be a bleeding heart and the human it's weak. It's too tough a world to let my human out."

So I come to you and I'm really open as a human. My child is quite vulnerable. I'm very vulnerable. You've all got one of those, haven't you? It’s not real 'smart', not interested in the psychology and all this clever thinking and all... Just wants to enjoy life - just wants to be happy... You know?

That's the only part of you that will ever love. The human will love. 'Cause you're a spirit and spirits don't love. They know and understand. But they don't love. The child in you loves.

When children are very young, they love without reservation. The child can love. The child in you can love. And if you suppress the child too much, you've got to sort of play the game of love. But you're not really loving.

I'm not always right. Sometimes I’m right though... Good law of averages."
