CLEAN UP AUSTRALIA DAY 2007

Kenja in the Community has proudly run the Clean Up Australia Day site at Bradfield Park in Milsons Point, Sydney over the past 15 years.

This year however, was one out of the box.

On Sunday March 4 2007, the site appeared on national television with Channel Seven's Sunrise programme recording an interview with Clean Up Australia Day founder Ian Kiernan AO, AOM. And what a glorious day it was.

As Ian arrived, he was greeted by Kenja’s Fearless Bunyip 'Snowgum', who is annually on hand to help the team of Kenja volunteers and locals as they clean up together.

"Oh, it's my favourite Bunyip!" exclaimed Ian as he caught sight of his swamp-dwelling friend and the two exchanged a big warm hug (as seen in the photo at left). Onlookers wondered whether that was because Snowgum had collected a particularly large bag of rubbish... or perhaps because he'd previously given Ian the delicious Fearless Bunyip Anzac bikkie recipe?

Once again the day was a tremendous success and with Bradfield Park sparkling like its Harbour backdrop, Clean Up Australia Day once again left its now internationally famous non-mark on our soil. "It's just a great way to contribute to Sydney's unbeatably beautiful foreshore." enthused Team Leader Mike. "The Kenja team always looks forward to participating in this great national event."
